2020 Janet & Walter Sondheim Artscape Prize applications are now open

The Baltimore Office of Promotion & The Arts (BOPA) announces that the application for the 15th annual Janet & Walter Sondheim Artscape Prize is now available. The prestigious competition awards a $25,000 fellowship to assist in furthering the career of a visual artist or visual artist collaborators living and working in the Greater Baltimore region. New for this year is the Sondheim Creative Residency, a six-week-long fully funded residency at La Civatella Ranieri in the Umbria region of Italy, which will be awarded to one of the remaining finalists not selected for the Sondheim Prize. The Sondheim Artscape Prize also provides regional artists the opportunity to exhibit their works at the Walters Art Museum.

The deadline for submissions is Monday, January 13, 2020. The application is available here and here.

The finalists’ exhibition is on view May 28 through July 19, 2020 at the Walters Art Museum. An award ceremony and reception takes place July 11, 2020 at 7 p.m. at the Walters. Galleries open at 6 p.m. Admission to the exhibition and opening reception are free.
