Baltimore City HallEach year the Mayor of the City of Baltimore joins with the Greater Baltimore Committee and the Baltimore Development Corporation to recognize businesses that have demonstrated significant leadership and service to improve the quality of life in Baltimore. We invite you to nominate your company or another deserving company for the 2020 Mayor’s Business Recognition Award.

The awards are given for specific activities or projects between June 1, 2019, and September 30, 2020, that have significantly benefited Baltimore City and are outside the regular mission or day-to-day work or activities of the business.

Here are a couple examples from last year’s winners: Howard Bank, which moved its headquarters from Howard County to Baltimore City, established a program in which employees could take up to 20 hours of paid time off to do volunteer work. In the first 10 months of the program 41% of the bank’s employees participated, volunteering at a wide range of nonprofits, including the Maryland Food Bank, the Ed Reed Foundation Summer Camp and Our Daily Bread. Another honoree, The Hilton Baltimore Inner Harbor and its employees supported a number of community projects, including cooking turkeys for needy families that are assisted by Santa’s Helpers Anonymous. They also actively engaged in environmental restoration projects and assisted with the Baltimore Leadership School for Young Women.

Please take a moment to consider nominating your company or another deserving company to be honored for its work to improve the quality of life in our community. Self nominations are accepted and encouraged. Nominations are now closed.
