Academic year at Capitol College to culminate at graduation ceremony

On May 15, Capitol College graduates will walk across the stage to be awarded with a degree that signifies their hard work and achievements during their college years.

Over 220 graduate and undergraduate students will be conferred degrees in computer science, information technology, engineering and business disciplines, while a select few will be honored with awards based on their academic performance and dedication to the betterment of the campus community.

This year, the college will welcome commencement speaker Haden A. Land to address the soon-to-be alumni. Land is a certified systems architect with 26 years of professional experience across the public and private sectors. Currently, he is the vice president and chief technology officer for Lockheed Martin Information Systems and Global Services – Civil Product Line, a $4.5B annual sales business.

Land holds a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and computer science from the State University of New York at Potsdam and a master’s degree in computer and information science from Syracuse University. He is a member of many governing and advising bodies, including the Computer Science Advisory Board for Potsdam University, the Leadership Advisory Board of Capitol College, the Lockheed Martin Hispanic Executive Council, the Foundation Board of Prince George’s Community College, and many others.

Attendance for the day is open, and all alumni, friends and supporters of the college are invited to attend. This on-campus event will take place outside, regardless of weather. Information for students and their families can be found at Reception to follow.
