AcademicInfluence.com, which helps users review and explore community colleges, has ranked three Maryland community colleges on its list of the top 50 for 2021.
Greater Baltimore Committee member organizations Anne Arundel Community College and Baltimore City Community College both made the top 50 list. Rockville’s Montgomery College was also listed among the top 50.
The decision was made using a “Concentrated Influence” formula, which takes the combined influence score of a college’s top academic influencers (including faculty and alums) and divides it by the school’s total number of students. The website identified 839 community colleges in the U.S. that met the following criteria:
- It must be fully accredited.
- It must have a student body of at least 1,000 students.
- It must primarily provide two-year, or associate, degree programs (along with certificate credentials in most cases).
