Lila Shapiro-Cyr, a partner in Ballard Spahr’s Baltimore office, has been elected chair of the Maryland State Bar Association (MSBA) Real Property Section. Shapiro-Cyr’s term begins at the MSBA annual meeting in Ocean City on June 10.
“It is a true honor to become chair of the Real Property Section,” Shapiro-Cyr said. “Our section supports its members with educational programming, engages people with monthly real estate discussion lunches, provides an active listserv and webcasts, and mentors law students interested in real estate law. I look forward to helping further the practices and education of our members and seeking out new ways to support our members.”
Shapiro-Cyr represents clients in real estate acquisitions, development, leasing and financing. Her clients include owners, developers and tenants of commercial real estate properties. Her practice focuses on shopping center and urban development. Shapiro-Cyr also represents many public housing authorities and other developers of affordable housing in ongoing mixed-finance redevelopment efforts.
Shapiro-Cyr serves on the Board of Harbor City Services, Inc.; Chesapeake Search Dogs; and Kol HaLev, a Reconstructionist Synagogue Community in Baltimore. She is also the vice chair of the Office Leasing Committee of the Real Property, Trust and Estate Law Section of the American Bar Association. In addition, Shapiro-Cyr was named one of 2010’s Leading Women by the Daily Record, based on her professional experience, community involvement and commitment to inspiring change.
