Designs for a second hotel at Harbor Point show a triangular-shaped building just off Thames Street in Fells Point that will be flanked by a new pedestrian park.
The boutique, 132-key hotel is set to break ground later this year. The designs were outlined before a city design panel by Beatty Development Group, and are the latest addition to the 27-acre former industrial site anchored by energy giant Exelon Corp.
Developing the southeastern corner of Harbor Point has been the latest focus for Beatty Development, which unveiled plans this winter for more than 500 new apartments there in two new towers as well as a 1,370-space parking garage.
The addition of the new hotel next to the apartment towers will fill out that corner, Beatty officials told the city’s Urban Architecture and Advisory Panel. The site will also hold a small Linear Park, designed by Mahan Rykiel Associates, with a pedestrian-friendly walkway filled with retail and restaurants.
