Benjamin L. Polakoff to serve as chair of the Baltimore County Bar Association Real Property Committee

Benjamin L. Polakoff, a partner at the Maryland law firm Shapiro Sher Guinot & Sandler, has been appointed as chair of the Baltimore County Bar Association Real Property Committee. His term as chair commences July 1 and lasts for one year.

The Baltimore County Bar Association is the largest local bar association in the State of Maryland. Its Real Property Committee serves the association by educating its members on changes in the law and regulations impacting the real estate industry, and by monitoring relevant legislative developments at the state and local levels.

Polakoff is a partner in the business law department at Shapiro Sher Guinot & Sandler. His commercial real estate practice focuses on the representation of real estate developers in land acquisition, development, financing and leasing. He advises clients on land use and zoning matters and represents banks and other lenders in commercial financing transactions.

Polakoff often speaks and publishes articles on commercial real estate topics. His blog, Around the Block: Maryland Real Estate Events and News, has attracted a regular readership and has been featured in the Baltimore Business Journal. In January 2009, he was named a “Rising Star” in a list of Maryland “Super Lawyers,” an annual publication of Key Professional Media, Inc.

Polakoff is a member of the Maryland, Baltimore City and Baltimore County Bar Associations. He is also a member of the Greater Baltimore Committee, the International Council of Shopping Center, and the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties.
