Business Volunteers Unlimited Maryland (BVU) will host the second event of its 2010 Do Something Series July 13 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the American Visionary Art Museum in Federal Hill, Baltimore. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Program will begin at 6:00 p.m.
This year, BVU’s Do Something Series is partnering with WYPR and its award winning Growing Up Baltimore series that focuses on what life is like for Baltimore’s at-risk youth and tells the stories behind the statistics. At each event participants will hear from Baltimore leaders and residents about the challenges facing our community, paying special attention to issues affecting our city’s youth including educational needs, community safety, and social services.
Participants inspired to “Do Something!” July 13 will be able to connect with local nonprofits to learn about volunteer opportunities related to strengthening our city’s workforce and preparing our young people to thrive in Baltimore’s post-industrial economy. This event is a perfect opportunity for community members to meet like-minded individuals who are interested in learning about our neighborhoods and getting involved through volunteerism.
The event will include drinks and light fare. Participation in this event is only $10. Register today or call 410-366-6030. All proceeds support BVU, Greater Baltimore’s center for volunteerism.
