GBC supports revisions to the Stem Cell Research Act

The Greater Baltimore Committee last week offered testimony supporting a bill intended to more aggressively focus use of the state’s stem cell research funding on supporting commercialization of research. HB 289, sponsored by Delegate Brian Feldman (D-Montgomery), requires that at least one-third of grants be awarded to for-profit companies in the state. Applications for the FY2012 Biotechnology Development Awards for Biotechnology Commercialization or Translational Research now are available at www.marylandbiocenter.org.
