Mayor Sheila Dixon and the Baltimore Office of Promotion & The Arts announce Creative Baltimore Fund Grants 2010 are now available online. Applications are due by 5 p.m. on January 8. The Creative Baltimore Fund Grant program offers two types of grants: the General Operating Grant, which is awarded to nonprofit cultural organizations and Individual Artists Grants, which are awarded to support Baltimore artists working in their field of practice.
Mayor Dixon and the Baltimore City Council are committed to nurturing and supporting a vibrant, creative community that inspires individuals, celebrates the city’s culture and showcases the arts. The 2010 Creative Baltimore Fund Grants program, which provides funding for programming in the humanities, visual, performing and literary arts, is made possible through funding from the City of Baltimore, the Baltimore Office of Promotion & The Arts and the Maryland State Arts Council.
The competitive grant program supports the general operating expenses of eligible Baltimore City based cultural arts and humanities organizations including one-time projects, exhibitions, performances, workshops and other activities taking place in 2010. The fund distributes grants, which total more than $200,000 to non-profit cultural organizations, based on competitive applications. In addition, the program provides up to $40,000 in grants, to help support and recognize artists living and working in Baltimore. The artists grants are based solely on the review of recently produced artwork.
