The month since the 2022 Maryland General Assembly Legislative Session ended has been full of election filing deadlines, confirmation of the primary election date, and several bill signings. Governor Hogan has held four bill signings since the legislature adjourned, with one additional signing tentatively scheduled for Thursday, May 26. More details about the bills that have been signed can be found below.
After months of uncertainty, the date for the primary election is now final, as are the district lines for both congressional and legislative seats. Now that all of the district lines are settled, candidates are preparing for the July 19 primary election, which was originally scheduled for June 28. For more election information, see the article below.
This interim will be quieter than usual in Annapolis, with fewer legislative committee meetings, as many current members campaign for re-election or an alternative office. The GBC staff will continue to monitor election activities, legislative committee action and activities, and other policy areas of interest on behalf of the GBC membership.
