  • Newsmaker Breakfast: The Expanding Role and Importance of Community Colleges

Join regional business leaders for a conversation with Dawn Lindsay, President of Anne Arundel Community College, Sandra Kurtinitis, President of the Community College of Baltimore County, Dianna Phillips, President of Harford Community College, and Kate Hetherington, President of Howard Community College.

The four female presidents will discuss the extraordinary and critical role that community colleges have in educating and training the workforce. The discussion will also focus on the changing demands placed on their institutions as well as the funding of community colleges.

  • Economic Outlook Conference

Join the Greater Baltimore Committee for its annual Economic Outlook Conference, which this year will focus on “The Future of Work” and explore topics such as artificial intelligence, the impact of robots in the workplace and their interaction with human workers, characteristics of the next generation of workers and how we are educating the workforce for the jobs of the future.

Roger Casey, President of McDaniel College, who will discuss characteristics of the current workforce;

Allison Horn, Managing Director, Learning and Leadership Development for Accenture, who will talk about the digital revolution and the future workforce; and

David S. Mitchell,  Associate Director, Policy and Market Solutions for the Aspen Institute Financial Security Program, who will discuss the financial impact of the future workforce.

For more than 15 years, the GBC has been recognizing, through its Bridging the Gap Awards, exceptional minority and women-owned businesses and majority businesses and executives who nurture the development of minority businesses in Greater Baltimore and Maryland.

The GBC’s Bridging the Gap initiative works to advance greater Baltimore’s business culture by creating an atmosphere for majority and minority and women-owned businesses to succeed and form mutually-beneficial partnerships. The Bridging the Gap initiative strives to equip businesses with the tools and support to develop such collaborations.
