Join the Greater Baltimore Committee’s 2022 Transportation Summit for an engaging discussion on working collaboratively to improve transit in the Baltimore region. Panelists will discuss the region’s current transit system and opportunities for improvement, explore how quality transit impacts social equity and inclusive economic growth, and take a deeper dive into recent transit successes in Indianapolis and the business community’s role in those successes.

Panelists:

  • Dr. Celeste Chavis, Associate Professor, Departments of Transportation & Urban Infrastructure Studies, Morgan State University, Baltimore, MD | Dr. Chavis is jointly appointed in the Departments of Transportation & Urban Infrastructure Studies and Civil Engineering at Morgan State University. She is currently serving as Interim Associate Dean for Undergraduate Studies for the School of Engineering.
  • Lacey Everett, Director of Political Affairs, MIBOR REALTOR® Association, Indianapolis, IN | Lacey is an accomplished advocacy professional who developed and executed a county-wide community education and engagement campaign that led to a 60 percent vote of support for mass transit expansion in Indianapolis and successfully advocated for the creation of a dedicated transit fund.
  • Yonah Freemark, Senior Research Associate and Lead, Fair Housing, Land Use, and Transportation Practice Area, Urban Institute, Washington, DC | Yonah is a nationally recognized expert on the connection between land use, transportation, and social and economic mobility. He has published peer-reviewed scholarship in numerous journals, including Urban Affairs ReviewPolitics & SocietyHousing Policy Debate, and the Journal of the American Planning Association.
  • Michael B. Kelly, Executive Director, Baltimore Metropolitan Council, Baltimore, MD | As Executive Director of the BMC, Mike works with the region’s elected executives and regional stakeholders to develop collaborative strategies, plans, and programs that will help improve the quality of life and economic vitality in the Baltimore region.
