This kickoff conversation is an opportunity for employers — especially major employers with significant hiring needs — to engage early in shaping a more coordinated\, employer-informed workforce strategy for the region. \nAs the work evolves\, we are moving from discovery to action. DESCRIPTION:As a follow-up to the unveiling of the Regional Economic Scorecard at the 2026 State of the Region\, the Greater Baltimore Committee is pleased to invite our partners and the broader community to a virtual briefing on the key insights shaping the Baltimore Region’s economy. \nOriginally launched in 2024 to provide a clearer view of investment and growth across the region\, the Scorecard offers a data-driven perspective on the trends influencing Baltimore’s economic trajectory. Following its introduction to regional leaders and investors\, we are excited to now share these findings more broadly with GBC partners and interested stakeholders. \nDuring this virtual session\, we will explore: \n\nCapital flows across the Baltimore Region\, including real estate\, private equity\, and venture activity\nSector momentum – where growth is accelerating and which industries are leading\nForeign direct investment and interstate capital trends shaping the regional economy\nPublic company data and firm location patterns\, including attraction and retention dynamics\nWhat the data signals about where the market is heading and where we should focus next\n\nWe look forward to continuing the conversation around the region’s economic future and sharing these insights with the wider Baltimore community. \nThis briefing will be held virtually.

SUMMARY:UpSurge Momentum: What Drives the Ecosystem Forward
DESCRIPTION:Baltimore’s innovation economy doesn’t move in a straight line. Every year\, we see breakthroughs and bottlenecks\, big exits and persistent gaps\, founders who landed the big win while others keep fighting for the resources to get there. UpSurge Baltimore takes a clear-eyed look at this state of affairs every year — and\, through all the change\, find plenty to celebrate. \nJoin us on May 19 for UpSurge Momentum\, our latest annual event at which we’ll highlight findings from the 2026 Greater Baltimore Ecosystem Report. Coming on the heels of the Greater Baltimore Committee’s State of the Region and Investment Summit events\, this convening will offer our most comprehensive look yet at the investment trends\, startup growth\, workforce dynamics\, and structural challenges shaping the region’s innovation future. \nBut data alone doesn’t move a region forward. Partnerships play an outsized role. \n\n\nThat thread runs through this year’s report — and it’s why we’ve partnered up with Flywheel\, the Locust Point-based marketing technology company whose trajectory tells you something important about what’s possible here. Acquired by communications giant Omnicom in 2023 for $835 million and working with major brands like Under Armour and McCormick\, Flywheel has built the kind of institutional relationships that turn promising startups into enduring companies. They’ll lead a hands-on workshop on leveraging AI to grow your business\, and join a conversation about what strategic partnership has done for them — and what it can unlock for you. \nWe’ll do all of this inside the Fearless Club at CFG Bank Arena— the premium lounge named for one of Baltimore’s tentpole startups\, inside another success story for downtown Baltimore’s commercial health.
