Experts gauge BRAC impacts and opportunities in Maryland; will discuss at GBC Business Outlook

The federal Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) decisions will bring more than 40,000 jobs to Maryland during the next 10 years, experts estimate.

J. Michael Hayes, Maryland’s director of Military and Federal Affairs, and economist Anirban Basu, chairman and CEO of Sage Policy Group, will be panel speakers at the GBC’s Business Outlook Conference 2007, to be held at 7:30 a.m. October 30 at the Baltimore Convention Center. The Greater Baltimore Committee asked Hayes and Basu to share their perspectives with GBC members about the opportunities to be created in Maryland by BRAC.

Their commentaries on potential BRAC impact and opportunities:
Hayes: BRAC will draw new residents, create opportunities for existing ones
Basu: channeling BRAC’s impact into constructive outcomes
