GBC 2007 Lunch with the Orioles hits home run with Baltimore business community

Lunch with the Orioles, one of GBC’s most popular annual events, brought together more than 500 baseball fans from the region’s business community to celebrate the start of the Baltimore Orioles season at the Sheraton Baltimore City Center Hotel on April 11.

The event featured a pre-luncheon reception which included an autograph session, Dixie Devils band performance and an Orioles Hall of Fame display from the Sports Legends Museum at Camden Yards. During the luncheon, audience members met Orioles players, coaches, and team celebrities who dined at their tables. The lunch program was emceed by Orioles announcers Joe Angel, Jim Hunter and Fred Manfra and also included interviews of manager Sam Perlozzo and Orioles players.

During the luncheon, guests were entertained by television journalist and sports entertainer Roy Firestone, who gave a humorous musical performance as a tribute to the Baltimore Orioles and the significant role the franchise played in the development of his career.

The GBC launched the event in 1980 to demonstrate strong business-sector support for the team.
