GBC, four member companies among finalists for PR News’ 2006 Platinum PR Awards

The Greater Baltimore Committee has been named by PR News as a finalist in the email communications category of the 2006 Platinum PR Awards competition recognizing outstanding public relations efforts during the past year.

Four GBC-member companies have also been named among finalists in other categories.

The GBC is one of four finalists for email communications. It is being recognized for its e-newsletter, “The Leader,” transmitted twice a month to GBC members. Other finalists in the category are: Allstate Insurance Company, the Broward County Library, and the Entergy Company.

Winners in this and 28 other Platinum PR Awards categories will be announced at an October 18 awards luncheon in New York City. Finalists were selected from among more than 800 public relations project entries. Judging is conducted by a panel of corporate, agency and academic executives as well as staff members of PR News, a national communications industry publication.

GBC-member companies among finalists in 2006 Platinum PR Awards categories are:

  • Weber Shandwick, which won a 2005 PR Platinum Award for application of research, is a finalist in three 2006 categories — Large PR Firm of the Year, media relations, and branding.
  • Bank of America is a 2006 finalist in the categories of event marketing and marketing communications.
  • Comcast is a finalist in the employee relations category; and
  • Procter and Gamble is a finalist in the research and management category.

Two other GBC-member companies were among 2005 Platinum PR Awards winners. Trahan, Burden & Charles won in the event marketing category, and Pfizer, Inc. was a winner last year in the financial and investor relations category.
