The Greater Baltimore Urban League has selected Greater Baltimore Committee president and CEO Donald C. Fry as a recipient of its Whitney M. Young, Jr. Award 2008.
Fry will be honored for leading the GBC’s “Bridging the Gap” initiative to nurture the development and growth of minority-owned and women-owned businesses in the region. The annual Whitney M. Young Jr. Award Dinner & Equal Opportunity Day Gala will be held on May 8 at the Baltimore Waterfront Marriott at 6 p.m.
In 2003, Fry unveiled and the GBC launched “Bridging the Gap,” which among other things, nurtured partnerships between large companies and minority-owned companies. This multi-dimensional initiative also includes seminars, networking and mentoring efforts designed to create a unified business community with tangible benefits for minority- and women-owned businesses. The “Bridging the Gap” program continues to be a top priority of the GBC.
