This summer the Greater Baltimore Committee is sponsoring Jatun Reeves, a freshman at Frostburg State University, through Hire One Youth, the private-sector component of Baltimore City’s YouthWorks summer jobs program.

Previous work experience: I’ve worked at the Baltimore Convention Center and in a summer camp. I also have retail experience selling lacrosse equipment, working at Journey’s and Abercrombie & Fitch.
How did you hear about Hire One Youth? I heard about Hire One Youth during my Youth Works interview and decided to apply.
What was the interview process like? After my Youth Works interview, my mentor told me that I had an interview with the Greater Baltimore Committee. The process only took about a week.
What are your primary responsibilities at the GBC? I assist the office staff with various projects. So far, I’ve had experience with the Membership, Finance, and Events teams. Right now I am helping prepare for the GBC’s Bridging the Gap Achievement Awards on November 1.
What has been your favorite internship experience? My favorite experience at the GBC has been attending this month’s Newsmaker Breakfast with Dr. Sonja Santelises from Baltimore City Public Schools.
How will your internship help you professionally? Working at the Greater Baltimore Committee, I have gained knowledge about how the business world works.
Post-graduation plans: I would like to record music or enter the music industry. Professionally, I’m interested in working in entertainment journalism and launching a consulting firm to assist black women business owners build their companies.
