Five of the region’s top health care institutions and Greater Baltimore Committee (GBC) members will host a health care vendor fair on September 16 at University of Maryland, Baltimore.
The event will convene at Health Sciences Facility I to introduce members of the health companies’ procurement staffs to the minority and women-owned business community (MWBE) and to discuss the procedures for doing business with their respective organizations. MWBEs can also expect to meet with local business resource providers.
For more than four years, the participating health care organizations have collaborated through the GBC’s Bridging the Gap initiative to explore and implement ways of increasing their procurement with local MWBEs. The effort has been successful in producing significant increases in their MWBE procurement.
“Much of this success can be attributed to the unwavering support of the presidents of these institutions,” said GBC president and CEO Donald C. Fry. “The upcoming vendor fair is yet another way that the health care community continues to demonstrate its commitment to the Greater Baltimore region and to supplier diversity.”
Participating organizations are:
Greater Baltimore Medical Center
Johns Hopkins Medicine
The University of Maryland Medical System
Sponsors for the GBC Health Care Vendor Fair are: Program Sponsor, University of Maryland Medical System, and Media Sponsor, the Baltimore Times.
