The Greater Baltimore Committee welcomed in January two new staff members, Research and Policy Associate Shaina A. Hernandez and Digital Communications Editor Cassandra Miller.
Shaina is primarily focused on analyzing and informing policy decisions to make Maryland a better place to do business, create jobs and enhance its competitive advantages. Shaina will also staff the GBC’s Education and Workforce Committee. Before joining the GBC, Shaina spent four years working in the Office of Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley. During her time in the O’Malley Administration, Shaina served in a variety of roles in the communications and research fields, most recently as the deputy director of public affairs. She is a proud graduate of the University of Maryland at College Park and an alumna of the AmeriCorps*National Civilian Community Corps program. Shaina and her fiancé Chris, a Naval officer, live in the Ridgely’s Delight neighborhood of Baltimore City.
Cassandra manages and creates content for the GBC website, social media pages (Facebook, Twitter, etc.) and various publications. She has worked as a journalist and/or teacher in New Zealand, Italy, Czech Republic and New York City. Cassandra recently relocated to the Hampden neighborhood of Baltimore City from Central New York, where she was the communications specialist and lecturer of journalism at Hartwick College, and a newspaper and magazine editor. Cassandra has a Bachelor of Science in journalism from Boston University. She teaches Italian and freelance writes about arts and culture in her free time.
