Greater Baltimore Committee wins Platinum PR Award for electronic communications

PR News, a leading national public relations industry publication, has named the Greater Baltimore Committee the winner of a 2006 Platinum PR Award in the category of “best electronic communications.”

The GBC, an organization of the Baltimore region’s business and civic leaders, received the award during the Platinum PR Awards luncheon yesterday at the Grand Hyatt in New York City.

The GBC was among winners named in 29 categories from among nearly 1,000 entries in the annual awards competition. Winners in other categories included Bank of America, McDonald’s, Yahoo!, Weber Shandwick, Burson-Marstellar, and the American Medical Association.

The GBC was one of four finalists in the email communications category. Other finalists in the category were: Allstate Insurance Company, the Broward County Library, and the Entergy Company.

PR News cited the GBC for making its twice-monthly e-newsletter, the “Leader,” more vibrant, effective, relevant and accessible. The GBC’s e-newsletter, “commands the attention of its audience,” the awards competition’s judges wrote.
