The Maryland Innovation Partners Coalition (MIPC), a consortium of tech councils and organizations promoting partnerships between large and small tech companies, has announced that three new purchaser companies will participate in the 2015 Innovation Partners meeting. The new participating companies are BGE, CyberPoint and Hewlett-Packard.
MIPC held its first Innovation Partners meeting in June 2014 to introduce eight large Maryland companies in the market for new technologies and services to a pre-selected pool of young innovative companies seeking purchasers. The event was a joint project of the Greater Baltimore Committee, Tech Council of Maryland and Howard Tech Council. It was sponsored by the Technology Development Corporation of Maryland (TEDCO).
The young, presenting companies were identified by contacting local incubators, TEDCO and the Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development (DBED). From an initial list of about 60 candidates, about 30 were sent to the purchaser companies for consideration. Of those, 12 were selected for one-on-one meetings with the purchaser companies.
The purchaser companies were IBM, Allegis Group, Howard County Government, iBiquity, T. Rowe Price, Pixelligent, Lockheed Martin and Expedient.
A total of 10 follow-up meetings were scheduled between the young innovative companies and the purchaser companies as a result of the 2014 Innovation Partners meeting.
