Joyce Kroeller, first CollegeBound executive director, dies at 57

Joyce Ann Kroeller, the first executive director of CollegeBound Foundation, died on June 4 at the age of 57.

Created in 1988 by the Greater Baltimore Committee and Baltimoreans United in Leadership Development, CollegeBound helps inner-city students attend college.

Kroeller, a New Jersey native who earned master’s degrees from the University of Maryland School of Social Work and the University of Baltimore, served as CollegeBound’s exective director until 1999. Since its founding, CollegeBound has leveraged more than $25 million in financial aid to Baltimore City student scholars and provided more than $3 million in last-dollar grants to more than 1,000 students.
