The Leadership, a program of the Greater Baltimore Committee, is accepting applications for its Class of 2008, which begins in January.
Created in 1984 by prominent business and civic leaders, the Leadership program identifies and exposes leaders from the private sector, the nonprofit sector, unions and local government to new leadership opportunities. The Leadership’s goal is to stimulate increased civic involvement among individuals who have talent and commitment.
The program includes 10 full-day sessions held once a month, January through November, as well as two-day retreats in the spring and fall. There are a number of other activities also included. The sessions generally focus on major public policy areas vital to the success of the region. At the end of the program, each participant is expected to pursue volunteer activities that reflect his or her interests.
Tuition is $6,500 with partial scholarships available for individuals from nonprofit and public agencies and, in appropriate cases, small businesses. The Leadership is committed to not letting tuition serve as an obstacle for appropriate candidates to participate in the program.
The Leadership is looking for individuals who have reached a significant position in their organizations and who demonstrate an interest in community service.
Application and nomination forms can be obtained online and should be returned to: The Leadership, 111 S. Calvert Street, Suite 1700, Baltimore, Md.
