Leading lawmakers to square off at Jan. 23 GBC legislative forum

Leading Maryland lawmakers will square off in an early-session dialogue at the GBC’s Maryland General Assembly 2012 Legislative Forum on January 23, offering a preview of the issues and political dynamics that will shape the outcome of this year’s legislative session.

The 8 a.m. program will be held at the Marriott Waterfront Hotel in Baltimore. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m.

Featured lawmakers will include House of Delegates Speaker Michael E. Busch and House Minority Leader Anthony J. O’Donnell. Senate Budget and Taxation Committee Chairman Edward Kasemeyer and Senate Minority Leader E. J. Pipkin have been invited to discuss the view of the session from their side of the State House.

Jeff Salkin, Maryland Public Television news anchor and host of “State Circle” and “Your Money and Business,” will serve as moderator of the discussion.

Topics are expected to include the governor’s budget proposal, the state’s fiscal outlook, job creation, transportation funding and other legislative issues likely to surface in Annapolis this year that could impact business.
