The Maryland Out of School Time (MOST) Network is seeking business sponsors to match with Afterschool program providers to build awareness and public support for afterschool programs. Each year in October, Maryland and the nation celebrate Lights On Afterschool by hosting public events for youth, parents, community, funders, businesses and policymakers. The events are designed to recognize the impact of afterschool programs on youth, their families and their communities.
This year Lights On Afterschool will be held October 20 and events will take place throughout the week and across the state. Sponsorship opportunities can be tailor-made to fit the interests and resources of the sponsoring business and partner organization. Sponsors will be included in all marketing material, invitations and press releases regarding Lights On Afterschool Events.
Below are a few examples:
• Sponsor an activity-based event either at your business location or on-site in partnership with one or more afterschool programs (ex. Family Fund Day; Run/Walk; Sports Event; Performance)
• Engage employees as volunteers. Volunteers could complete a particular project or provide and in-kind service (ex. Renovate/improve program space; Create A Community Garden; Provide Career Guidance/Mentoring to program participants)
• Donate money and/or items that will augment an event or contribute to the programs supplies/activities (ex. Create and announce a scholarship fund; provide equipment, computers, arts supplies; contribute t-shirts, bags or other company logo items as gifts)
The Maryland Out of School Time Network is a statewide network of youth, parents, providers, intermediaries and policymakers working together to increase the access to, quality of and funding for out of school time opportunities for young people in Maryland. Over 30 Maryland state legislators have signed on as Out of School Time Legislative Champions.
