Maryland Works, Inc. will be hosting the 5th Annual Employment Awards Luncheon and special morning presentation on the “State of the State on Employment for People with Disabilities” on Wednesday, October 31 at the Marriott BWI Airport Hotel.
The morning presentation is from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. followed by the awards ceremony luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Thomas E. Perez, Assistant Attorney General for the U.S. Departent of Justice will give the keynote address. Perez, former Secretary of Maryland’s Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation (DLLR), has served as the Assistant Attorney General for the Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division since October 8, 2009. Since his appointment, Perez has been involved in numerous high profile civil rights cases on behalf of people with disabilities.
The 5th Annual Employment Awards is Maryland’s premier event to recognize and celebrate achievement of employment, economic advancement and business ownership opportunities for people with disabilities and other barriers to employment.
The morning presentation on the “State of the State on Employment for People with Disabilities” will have a panel of experts addressing the current state and national status of employment for people with disabilities. Represented on the panel will be the Maryland Department of Disabilities (MDOD), Developmental Disabilities Administration (DDA), Mental Hygiene Administration (MHA), Division of Rehabilitation Services (DORS), Department of Labor, Licensing & Regulation (DLLR) and the Inter-National Association of Business, Industry and Rehabilitation.
