Maryland Works seeks nominees for annual employment awards

Maryland Works, Inc; a statewide membership association that focuses on advocating the expansion of employment and economic opportunities for individuals with disabilities and other barriers to employment, announced nomination forms are available for its 2010 Annual Employment Awards program. The deadline to receive nominations is December 30. Award winners will be recognized at the 3rd Annual Employment Awards Luncheon in January 2010.

The Employment Awards program honors individuals that have achieved their career goals regardless of having a disability, as well as workforce professionals, employers and public agencies that advocate and expand skills training and employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities or other barriers to employment.

The categories for nominations include:

Employee of the Year: An individual with a disability who has achieved a significant work/career outcome.

Employer of the Year: An employer that has demonstrated a significant commitment to hiring and retaining individuals with disabilities.

Business Owner of the Year: An individual with a disability who owns and operates their own business.

Workforce Professional of the Year: An individual workforce professional who has made significant contributions in employment of people with disabilities.

Community Service Provider of the Year: A non-profit community service provider who has achieved significant outcomes in the employment of individuals with disabilities.
