McDaniel College has announced that it has elected five alumni of the college to its Board of Trustees. The new members of the Board of Trustees are:
Virginia “Ginny” Ace Miller operated McDonald’s franchises in central Pennsylvania with her husband, Dennis, and served as secretary and treasurer for their operating company, Twin Arches LTD. In 2001, she and a partner created The Fitness Firm, a full-service health club in Harrisburg, Pa., where she served as managing member until 2007.
Miller and her husband then moved to Edmond, Okla., and started 4M Cattle, a cow-calf operation that bred cows and raised their calves, before they retired and moved to Miromar Lakes, Fla., in 2014. She is a 1976 alumna of McDaniel where she earned a bachelor’s degree in English.
Edward J. Kasemeyer, a long-serving member of the Maryland General Assembly, most recently as Maryland State Senator for District 12 representing portions of Howard and Baltimore counties. As chairman of the Senate Budget and Taxation Committee, he has played a key role in the fiscal management and policy of the State of Maryland. Previously, he served as deputy majority leader, senate chair of the Administrative, Executive and Legislative Review Committee, senate chair of the Joint Committee on Pensions and senate chair of the Joint Committee on Children, Youth and Families.
A lifelong Maryland resident, Kasemeyer has been involved in his community as a board member of Howard County ARC, the Howard County Housing Alliance and is former board president of the Greater Howard County Chamber of Commerce. He has been recognized with numerous awards, including the 2015 First Citizens Award, Senate of Maryland; 2014 Public Supporter of the Year, Maryland Food Bank; 2013 Champion for Real Lives, Developmental Disabilities Coalition; 2012 Legislator of the Year, Mental Health Coalition; and 2009 Maryland Independent College and University Association (MICUA) Presidents’ Award. In addition, Kasemeyer, who is a 1967 alumnus of McDaniel, has been honored by the college with the Trustee Alumni Award in 2000 and Alumni Community Service Award in 2017.
Anne Marlow Vose has owned and operated Weatherbee Company, a manufacturing business that produces wholesale and retail kitchen items, since 1984. She has also worked in marketing and commercial services for Edgartown National Bank and has served as president of the Harvard Garden Club, vice-president of the local chapter of the League of Women Voters, chairman of the Historic Commission in Harvard and the Beautification Committee of Edgartown, Mass.
Vose has been an active member of P.E.O. Sisterhood, a philanthropic organization that provides educational opportunities for women, and served on the board of Hospice on Martha’s Vineyard. She earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology from McDaniel in 1966.
David Moskowitz is a business attorney and senior advisor for Denver-based DISH Network. He joined DISH as its first general counsel in 1990 and has been instrumental in helping to build the company. He has been a part of DISH’s expansion from a private satellite television hardware and programming company into a Fortune 200 company positioned for growth in mobile communications with one of the most valuable portfolios of wireless spectrum licenses in the United States.
He graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in political science and English from McDaniel and earned a J.D. from the National Law Center of George Washington University in 1983.
Mark Stuart leads all fundraising and friend-raising efforts to support San Diego Zoo Global’s animal care, conservation and education programs. He also serves as president of the Foundation of San Diego Zoo Global, which is devoted to raising major gifts to address the institution’s mission to end extinction. Stuart has taught on philanthropy best practices nationally and regionally with the Association of Zoos and Aquariums, the Association of Fund-Raising Professionals and National University’s Sanford Institute of Philanthropy.
He is a Certified Fundraising Executive, a distinction held by only 5,000 fundraising professionals in the United States. He previously served as associate dean at the University of Pennsylvania, assistant vice president for development at Gettysburg College, director of the annual fund at McDaniel College and assistant director of alumni relations and annual giving at Albion College. In addition to earning a master’s degree in educational administration from McDaniel in 1994, he earned a bachelor’s degree in English and political science from Albion College in 1989.
