McDaniel College named a 2015 Best Value private college by Kiplinger’s Personal Finance

Fourth consecutive year that McDaniel College has been recognized for academic quality and affordability.

Westminster, Md. – McDaniel College is one of only 100 top liberal arts colleges named a “Best Value” by Kiplinger’s Personal Finance. This is the fourth consecutive year that Kiplinger’s has recognized McDaniel for its academic quality and affordability.

For the first time, Kiplinger’s combined the best values in private and public colleges ranking 100 liberal arts colleges, 100 private universities and 100 public schools. The complete rankings are available online. (The rankings appear in Kiplinger’s February issue on newsstands on Jan. 6.)

Kiplinger’s assesses the quality of colleges and universities according to measurable standards. Academic criteria include the student admission rate, freshman retention rate, student-faculty ratio and the four-year graduation rate. On the cost side, Kiplinger’s measures the sticker price, financial aid and the average debt at graduation.

According to Kiplinger’s, many of the colleges on the list have appeared on the list multiple times, including McDaniel, a testament to the consistent value these colleges provide.

At McDaniel, over 90 percent of first-year students receive some type of financial assistance, and the college invests more than $30 million annually in grants and scholarships.

In addition to Kiplinger’s Personal Finance, McDaniel ranked at the top of Washington Monthly’s “Best Bang for the Buck” list for liberal arts colleges for the second year in a row. McDaniel also continues to be recognized among the first tier of national liberal arts colleges by U.S. News and was again named among the “Best in the Northeast” by The Princeton Review.
