McDaniel College president appointed to P-20 Leadership Council by Governor Hogan

Westminster, Md. – McDaniel College President Roger N. Casey has been appointed by Governor Larry Hogan to the P-20 Leadership Council of Maryland.

Created in 2007, the leadership council is a partnership among the State of Maryland, educators and the business community to increase the state’s economic competitiveness by preparing Maryland students for jobs in the 21st century.

“‘P-20’ refers to a system of education that encompasses preschool through graduate studies, and ensures that students from an early age are learning the necessary skills for a competitive workplace,” according to the P-20 Leadership Council of Maryland website.

“I am honored to be selected by Governor Hogan and look forward to being involved in the work of the leadership council,” President Casey said.

Chaired by Kelly M. Schulz, Secretary of the Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation, members of the council include representatives from school districts, colleges, educational associations and businesses in Maryland.

The ninth president of McDaniel College, President Casey is also on the Council of Independent Colleges (CIC) steering committee to assess the future of independent colleges and leads the CIC New Presidents’ Institute program in enrollment management. He also sits on the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities (NAICU) Student Financial Aid Committee and serves as chair of the Maryland Independent College and University Association (MICUA).
