MECU, Baltimore’s Credit Union, is the new naming rights sponsor of Pier Six Pavilion in Baltimore, Maryland, signing a multi-year agreement with Live Nation. The iconic amphitheater, holding nearly 4,000 fans and hosting approximately 25 concerts a season, will now be known as MECU Pavilion.
This exciting partnership reinforces MECU’s commitment to Baltimore and will help increase the credit union’s visibility across the entire Baltimore region as a trusted financial institution where members get more for their money.
“As Baltimore’s hometown credit union for over 80 years, we are delighted to lend our name to a popular local venue with such a rich musical history,” said John Hamilton, President and CEO of MECU. “While many in Baltimore are familiar with MECU’s great deposit and loan rates, free premium checking and profit givebacks, this partnership will introduce our brand to an even broader audience of Baltimore-area music fans.”
For 2018, several world-renowned artists have already announced a tour stop at the venue, including Steve Miller Band with Peter Frampton, Khalid, Barenaked Ladies, and Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue. For ticket information, please visit MECUPavilion.com.
As part of the naming rights agreement, MECU members will receive advance ticket access and “Fast Lane” early admission to shows when they present their MECU debit or credit card at the main gate.
Additionally, MECU is furthering its long-standing community commitment by pledging $200,000 to improve access to arts and music education in Baltimore City schools. MECU will work with local nonprofits to provide increased funding for arts programs in individual schools, purchase musical instruments and art supplies, and offer cultural experiences for students.
“Through our increased support for arts education in our schools, we also hope to nurture the next generation of leaders, creators, artists, and innovators,” added Hamilton.
To kick-off the upcoming MECU Pavilion concert season, local music fans have a chance to win several incredible prizes, including $5,000 and a MECU Pavilion Rockstar Weekend package, by entering the MECU “Rates that Rock” Sweepstakes. More information is available at www.mecu.com/RatesThatRock.
The pavilion, opened in 1981, is a proud landmark in Baltimore’s cultural history.
