Merritt Construction Services selected to renovate Bel Air grocery store

Merritt Construction Services, a division of Merritt Properties, has been selected as the general contractor to transform the former Super Fresh store in Bel Air Plaza to a full-service Mars Super Market. The store will be Mars’ seventeenth store and its third in Harford County.

Located near the intersection of Routes 1 and 24 in Bel Air, the project will include a complete interior retrofit of the 45,000-square-foot space, as well as exterior renovation of the entry and exit. With construction now underway, the store is slated to open in late 2011.

“Having worked with Merritt Construction Services before, we are confident in their ability to deliver a top-quality job within the aggressive timetable,” said Richard E. Snyder, director of store development for Mars Super Markets.

This will be Merritt Construction Services’ second project for Mars. In 2010, Merritt renovated the company’s corporate headquarters in Baltimore, winning a Merit Award from the Baltimore Metro chapter of the Associated Builders & Contractors for the project.
