New certificate programs at UMBC training centers to address critical workforce needs

In response to growing market demand, UMBC Training Centers has launched several new applied certificate programs in Information Technology, Project Management and Business Analysis. These new programs have been designed to provide students with new skills, knowledge and credentials, and to help improve their professional careers. These new, bundled offerings include:

• Certificate in Computer & Network Technology
• Certificate in Information & Network Security
• Certificate in Project Management
• Certificate in Business Analysis

The Certificate in Computer & Network Technology combines CompTIA’s industry standard A+ Certified IT Technician and Network+ Certification programs, providing students with valuable skills and industry credentials which can be applied to a wide variety of roles within the IT industry.

The Certificate in Information & Network Security combines CompTIA’s Security+ Certification with the EC Council’s popular Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) program. This helps by providing students with highly valuable skills and credentials and qualifying them for positions requiring certification under Department of Defense directive DoD 8570.1. Directive DoD 8570.1 requires that personnel with privileged access to a DoD system obtain a commercial certification credential that has been accredited by the American National Standards Institute.

The Certificate in Project Management and the Certificate in Business Analysis provide students with practical skills and knowledge in these high-demand areas which can be applied immediately on the job. These programs are suitable for people new to these roles or for experienced Project Managers and Business Analysts who wish to compliment and reinforce their experience with formalized education and training.

Programs are offered in a variety of formats to accommodate the busy schedules of working adults. Weekday, weekend and evening options are available for most programs.

These certificate programs as well as a variety of other programs at UMBC Training Centers have been approved by the Maryland Higher Education Commission for funding through the Workforce Investment Act (WIA), which provides displaced workers with job retraining benefits and funding. Additionally student loans are available to assist with tuition financing.
