The Greater Baltimore Committee has opened nominations for its 2006 Bridging the Gap Achievement Awards Program on November 28 and Mayor’s Business Recognition Awards Luncheon on December 15.

The Bridging the Gap Achievement Awards honors successful minority businesses and majority companies that have made outstanding contributions to building a unified business community where businesses prosper by working together. The awards will be presented at a gala reception on November 28, 2006 at the Reginald F. Lewis Museum of Maryland African American History & Culture.

The Bridging the Gap Achievement Awards will honor businesses in three categories:

• Successful minority business owners
• Majority corporations and/or corporate leaders that have demonstrated leadership in an area of inclusive business practices
• Partnerships or strategic alliances between minority business owners or between minority business owners and majority businesses to pursue new business opportunities

The Mayor’s Business Recognition Awards Luncheon hosted by GBC and Baltimore Development Corporation will honor local businesses that have demonstrated significant corporate leadership and service for a better Baltimore. Firms throughout the Baltimore region – large and small – are recognized for committing resources to improve the quality of life in Baltimore City.
