Kevin Davis - 1Kevin Davis was named Baltimore’s Interim Police Commissioner in July 2015 and confirmed as Baltimore’s police chief by the Baltimore City Council in October 2015.

As the former Chief of the Anne Arundel County Police Department, he was appointed to the position of Deputy Police Commissioner in early 2015, overseeing the Investigations and Intelligence Bureau.

Commissioner Davis is a native of Maryland, born and raised in College Park. He comes from a family with a history of policing in Maryland and he continued that legacy when he began his career with the Prince George’s County Police Department. As a Deputy Chief in Prince George’s County, Commissioner Davis oversaw the Bureau of Investigations. His leadership resulted in an increase in clearance rates ensuring violent criminals were taken off the streets. Commissioner Davis rose through the ranks to become the Assistant Chief of the Prince George’s County Police Department. This role led to extensive experience working with consent decrees; creating a solid foundation of Constitutional Policing.

As the Chief of the Anne Arundel County Police Department, he made tremendous inroads in connecting with the community and building strong relationships with residents. He has continued that role in Baltimore, meeting with community groups and working to build strong relationships with the citizens of this city.

Commissioner Davis is a graduate of the FBI National Academy and the FBI National Executive Institute. He earned a master’s degree from Johns Hopkins University. He and his wife, Lisa, have four children.

The University System of Maryland (USM) Board of Regents appointed Kim E. Schatzel as the 14th president of Towson University in December 2015. Dr. Schatzel officially began her term on January 25, 2016.

Prior to joining Towson, Schatzel served as interim president for six months while continuing her responsibilities as provost and executive vice president of academic and student affairs at Eastern Michigan University, a position she held since 2012. At EMU, a public university in Ypsilanti with an enrollment of 23,000 undergraduate and graduate students, she provided leadership for all academic, curricular, and research activities; and for enrollment management. She was also responsible for the Division of Information Technology.

Some of her success at EMU include:

  • reorganizing academic and student affairs to improve the student experience;
  • achieving three consecutive years of record undergraduate enrollment;
  • developing a comprehensive degree completion and retention program;
  • reinvigorating the Graduate College and Office of Research and Development.

pres-kim-sqSchatzel began her career in higher education in 2000 and held several positions in the College of Business at the University of Michigan-Dearborn, beginning as an assistant professor of marketing and rising to interim dean (2007-2008) and dean (2008-2012). As dean, she led the business college to reposition itself within a highly competitive market, leading to enrollment growth and enhanced ability to attract and retain outstanding faculty.

Schatzel also brings more than 20 years of corporate, new venture, and start-up experience to the Towson presidency, including serving as founding president and chief operating officer, and later as chief executive officer of a multinational industrial firm employing more than 1,500 people on four continents.

She is a member of the Board of Directors and chairs the Audit Committee for Health Alliance Plan, and also serves on the Audit and Finance Committee for Henry Ford Health Systems, both based in Detroit.
