Entertaining equestrian units, local bands and illuminated floats fill the streets of downtown Baltimore when the Preakness Parade of Lights takes place on May 15 at 8:30 p.m. This year’s grand marshal is former “Dancing with the Stars” contestant Stacy Keibler.
Preakness Parade of Lights takes place the night prior to the big race. The parade steps off on Pratt and Eutaw streets and continues east on Pratt Street to Market Place. Spectators can catch the best views of the parade near the reviewing stand located on the northwest corner of Pratt and Light streets. Preakness Parade of Lights is one of several events preparing Baltimore for the 134th annual running of the Preakness Stakes on May 16. The Preakness Parade of Lights is presented by Mayor Sheila Dixon and produced by the Preakness Celebration, Inc. and the Baltimore Office of Promotion & The Arts.
Parade-goers can enjoy performances by regional bands, local cultural organizations and churches, floats and equestrian units. This year’s participants include bands Baltimore All-Stars Marching Unit, Inc., The Baltimore Westsiders, Afro-Brazilian percussion group Batala Washington and more. Some participating equestrian units are Baltimore City Mounted Police, Anheuser-Busch World Famous Clydesdales, Zydeco Cowboyz and Zydeo Cowgirlz. Additionally, Girl Scouts of Central Maryland, Night of 100 Elvises, Pets on Wheels, A Can Can Make a Difference and many others will join the evening festivities.
Stacy Keibler began her professional career at the young age of 6 years old. The former Baltimore Ravens cheerleader has been featured in box office successes including The Firm, The Pelican Brief, True Lies and more. The actress and model is best known for her role on World Championship Wrestling (WCW) and World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). Most recently, Keibler appeared on “Dancing with the Stars.” The 5-foot-11 star has graced the covers of Maxim and Shape and has been featured in Cosmopolitan, People and Fitness magazines. Keibler, originally from Maryland, resides in Los Angeles, Calif.
