Statement of Donald C. Fry, President and CEO, Greater Baltimore Committee, regarding proposed Bill to Tax Services

February 20, 2020

“The GBC is deeply concerned of the negative consequences of altering the state’s tax structure based on legislation introduced at the halfway point of a 90-day session. Significant tax reform of this magnitude should receive much more thought and debate.”

“The more prudent approach would be to establish a state tax commission to study the current tax code, examine its effectiveness in light of today’s changing economy, engage the public and stakeholders and provide ample time for public notice and comment.”
