Travelocity founder to speak at May 19 business tech summit

Terry Jones, founder and former CEO of will be the keynote speaker at a May 19 program in Baltimore to focus on the business value of IT.

The 8:00 a.m. event, presented by Hartman Business Technology, will be held at The Hyatt Regency Baltimore.

The goal of this one-day conference is to provide a forum for executives to collaborate and learn how mid-market companies are leveraging technology to increase profits, improve business and employee efficiencies, reduce corporate risk, and create competitive advantage.

Terry Jones led as president and was CEO from its founding until May 2002.

Previously, Jones served as CIO at Sabre Inc. Prior to Sabre, Jones joined American Airlines in 1978 as director of product development.

A graduate of Denison University, Jones entered the travel industry in 1971 as a travel agent with Vega Travel. He later served five years as a vice president of Travel Advisors, a company specializing in business travel to Eastern Europe and the USSR. Jones is managing principal of Essential Ideas, a consultancy he co-founded to help companies in their transition to the digital economy.
