Two representatives from GBC-member Frederick Ward Associates to serve on Harford rezoning group

Industry expert and Greater Baltimore Committee (GBC) member Craig Ward of Frederick Ward Associates, will serve as the GBC representative of the Harford County Comprehensive Rezoning work group. Frederick Ward Associates’ Torrey Pierce will also take part in the process. County Executive David Craig and County Council President Billy Boniface announced the formation of this work group to review the draft zoning code legislation.

The re-write of the county’s 1982 zoning code, sub-division regulations and critical areas law is currently scheduled for October 2008. The office of planning will begin to accept re-zoning applications in July and August for review. The process should take until the end of January 2009. The administration’s recommendations in the form of legislation will arrive at the county council in August of 2009 after a month-long public review process. The county describes this as a four-year work program.

“I commend Harford County Executive David Craig for engaging the GBC in this important policy issue,” said GBC President and CEO Donald C. Fry. “This type of involvement demonstrates the regional perspective of the GBC. It is of tremendous value to be able to call on industry experts who are GBC members, such as Craig Ward and Frederick Ward Associates, to represent the GBC on pressing policy decisions.”

Other industry experts in the group include: Frank Hertsch (MRA); Susie Comer (Comer Construction); Rowan Glidden; Jeff Hettleman (Shelter Development); Frank Richardson; Jay Young (Brown, Brown & Young) and Tim Hopkins (Hopkins Builders).

The group met on June 25 and will continue to work on the revisions until May of 2008 when the final report is due.
