Whiteford Taylor & Preston Receives USGBC Maryland’s President’s Award

Whiteford Taylor & Preston was very honored to receive the President’s Award from the Maryland chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council at the Sixth Annual Wintergreen Awards event on January 27.

According to Stuart Kaplow, president of the Maryland Chapter Board of Directors, the President’s Award is “the most significant of the leadership award recognitions by the USGBC Maryland.” It was established to recognize the valuable contributions volunteers are making in green building and to encourage more people to serve by thanking and honoring organizations that, by their demonstrated commitment to sustainability and by example, inspire others.

The Award was accepted before a tremendous audience several hundred strong by Thomas Barbuti, Adam Baker, Edward Lee, Tami Daniel and Lisa Sparks, representing the Green Building and Sustainability Group.

In selecting WTP for this award, Kaplow noted the many volunteer hours WTP attorneys have committed to the chapter, the numerous seminars presented by WTP for the benefit of other chapter members and the Maryland reception which WTP hosted in Chicago at the USGBC’s annual Greenbuild conference.

WTP’s Green Building and Sustainability Industry Group is made up of 14 lawyers. This multidisciplinary team includes attorneys from our corporate, intellectual property, litigation, construction and surety, clean energy technology, real estate development and leasing, and community association practices. Our Green Industry Group seamlessly integrates in-depth understanding of sustainable development with our firm’s existing practices. We are proud to be one of only a few law firms with six LEED Accredited Professional attorneys.
