Advancing Infrastructure
The collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge on March 26, 2024 necessitated a coordinated and decisive response from the Baltimore Region's civic and business sectors. GBC worked with Maryland Governor Wes Moore and the Baltimore Community Foundation to establish the Maryland Tough Baltimore Strong coalition, a network of 120 area businesses and organizations that has raised more than $15 million to support the recovery effort.
A Dedicated Framework
The Baltimore Region has a strong logistics industry, but its export economy is constrained by outmoded and underinvested infrastructure. GBC’s Ten-Year Economic Opportunity Plan outlines a comprehensive set of strategies for investing in the region’s infrastructure to support expansion of the export economy in the 21st Century.
A Relevant Convener
Expanding and improving the Baltimore Region’s network of strategically located transportation and infrastructure assets requires expert thought leadership, cross-sector collaboration, and cutting-edge insights. As a host of major infrastructure projects move forward, GBC’s role as a voice for the business community is critical to keeping them on track.
A Powerful Advocate
GBC is a powerful advocate for underscoring the importance of the Baltimore Region’s logistics and infrastructure assets on the global stage. In April 2024, Maryland Governor Wes Moore asked GBC leadership to speak at a press conference on the Key Bridge collapse and recovery, making the case for rebuilding the bridge to support the regional and national industrial and export economy.
