Advancing Infrastructure

In response to the Key Bridge collapse in March 2024, GBC partnered with the Baltimore Community Foundation (BCF), Governor Wes Moore, and regional leaders to form the Maryland Tough Baltimore Strong Alliance,
uniting more than 130 partners and raising over $16 million for aid relief. In April 2025, GBC launched an Infrastructure Steering Committee that will be focused on supporting major transportation and redevelopment projects that are central to growing the Baltimore Region.

A Dedicated Framework

The Baltimore Region has a strong logistics industry, but its export economy is constrained by outmoded and underinvested infrastructure. GBC’s Ten-Year Economic Opportunity Plan outlines a comprehensive set of strategies for investing in the region’s infrastructure to support expansion of the export economy in the 21st Century.

A Relevant Convener

Expanding and improving the Baltimore Region’s network of strategically located transportation and infrastructure assets requires expert thought leadership, cross-sector collaboration, and cutting-edge insights. As a host of major infrastructure projects move forward, GBC’s role as a voice for the business community is critical to keeping them on track.

A Powerful Champion

GBC is a powerful champion for underscoring the importance of the Baltimore Region’s logistics and infrastructure assets on the national stage. At the state level, GBC advances policies that promote transit-oriented development and multi-modal priority in order to spur economic activity, promote ridership, and improve access to jobs and businesses. At the federal level, GBC makes the case for long-term investment in Amtrak’s Northeast Corridor improvements, including the Frederick Douglass tunnel, West Baltimore MARC station, and Baltimore Penn Station as well as investments in other major infrastructure projects that support the Baltimore Port and global supply chain infrastructure in the Baltimore Region.
