Collective Impact
GBC Partners & Members are collaborating to identify ways to reduce gun violence, support police officer retention and recruitment, tackle housing vacancy, improve local hiring and procurement efforts, and increase entrepreneurship and the ease of doing business in the region.
Reduce Gun Violence
GBC is working with its public partners to document gun violence trends in the Baltimore region and identify evidence-based strategies for violence reduction.
Support Police Officer Recruitment & Retention
This is a multifaceted effort and strategies will be developed through GBC’s Public Safety Committee. One example is capital improvements such as upgraded vehicles, technology, and improved human resource processes.
Housing Vacancy & Community Redevelopment
Housing vacancy constrains economic growth and stunts the revitalization of local neighborhoods. Working with the Mayor’s Office and BUILD, GBC is part of a landmark agreement to aggressively combat Baltimore City’s vacant and abandoned properties over the next 15 years.
Support Local Hiring & Procurement
Organizations like BLocal and Baltimore Integration Partnership have had success in creating opportunities around local hiring and procurement efforts for minority- and women-owned businesses. GBC is working with stakeholders to identify ways to scale the effectiveness of these and other programs throughout the Baltimore Region.
Ease of Doing Business
GBC is committed to increasing entrepreneurship and the ease of doing business in the Baltimore Region. This entails taking a closer look at ways to streamline business permitting practices and improving the efficiency of government functions.
