The Greater Baltimore Committee (GBC) is the leading economic and civic organization for the Baltimore Region, providing insightful economic and civic leadership to drive collective impact. GBC is powered by more than 300 private sector partners, including large, mid-size, and small companies; nonprofits; foundations; and educational and healthcare institutions.
Our Vision
Founded in 1955, the GBC is dedicated to fostering the prosperity of the Baltimore Region. In 2022, GBC merged with the Economic Alliance of Greater Baltimore—an organization that marketed the region for business investments—and hired Mark Anthony Thomas as its first new leader in more than two decades. GBC leadership worked with its board and partners to develop the Multi-Year Agenda, a strategic framework for driving the region forward.
When GBC was founded in 1955, Baltimore’s civic and business leaders called for “prompt and aggressive action” to tackle the city’s most pressing challenges — a spirit that continues to define the organization today.
