Baltimore has made meaningful progress in reducing violent crime, but sustaining that momentum will require continued collaboration, smart investment, and a strong private-sector voice. Join the Greater Baltimore Committee (GBC) for the kickoff of our Public Safety Steering Committee on Tuesday, May 5 — a timely convening for business, civic, and community leaders who want to help shape what comes next for Baltimore.

This inaugural meeting will bring together cross-sector leaders to explore the opportunities and challenges ahead, including the role of economic mobility, workforce stability, neighborhood investment, and prevention-focused strategies in creating safer, stronger communities. It will also outline the committee’s 2026 priorities and define how GBC and its partners can help sustain progress through practical action and informed engagement.

Baltimore’s recent crime reductions reflect what is possible when public, private, philanthropic, and community partners align around shared goals. But the work is not finished. This steering committee is designed to keep business leaders at the table as important decisions are made about policy, investment, and long-term public safety strategy.

Why attend:

  • Gain a clearer understanding of Baltimore’s public safety landscape and the factors driving progress.

  • Hear directly from leaders working on the front lines of prevention, retention, and neighborhood stability.

  • Help inform a business-led perspective on public safety solutions that support a stronger regional economy.

  • Connect with peers across sectors who share an interest in Baltimore’s long-term success.

This kickoff meeting is open to both GBC partners and non-partners. Moving forward, steering committee meetings will be limited to GBC partner organizations.
