Janet Currie to Be Nominated as Board Chair; Queen Anne’s County to Join Baltimore Region Jurisdictions in New Business Investment Partnership

(BALTIMORE, MD) — The Greater Baltimore Committee (GBC) today announced a new slate of Board leadership nominees and a historic regional economic development agreement formalizing how jurisdictions across the Baltimore Region will work together to attract business and investment.

The announcements were made ahead of GBC’s 2026 Annual Meeting, “Bold. Regional. Connected.”, which will be held for the first time in Howard County and will bring together more than 500 leaders from across the region. The Thursday, Oct. 8 event will be held at Merriweather Post Pavilion from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.

During the Annual Meeting, Janet Currie, president, Greater Maryland, Bank of America, will be nominated to serve as Chair of the GBC Board of Directors, succeeding Mohan Suntha, MD, MBA, president and CEO of the University of Maryland Medical System.

Joining Currie on the slate of officers to be nominated are Tamla Olivier, CEO, BGE, as vice chair; Gary Attman, president and CEO, FutureCare Health and Management Corporation, as treasurer; and William “Willy” Moore, president, Southway Builders, as secretary.

GBC also announced that Baltimore City and Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Carroll, Cecil, Harford, Howard and Queen Anne’s counties will sign a Regional Economic Development Memorandum of Understanding at the event establishing a shared approach to regional marketing, business investment, economic intelligence sharing, and strategic economic opportunities.

Queen Anne’s County’s participation marks a significant expansion of the partnership, extending GBC’s regional economic development work across the Chesapeake Bay to the Eastern Shore.

“Welcoming Queen Anne’s County into the Greater Baltimore Committee is an exciting step forward in building a more connected and collaborative region. Our strength comes from bringing together business, civic, and community leaders around shared opportunities, and expanding our reach allows us to accomplish even more together,” said Currie. “I am proud to begin my tenure as board chair at such an exciting moment of regional growth, and I look forward to working with our partners to connect resources, advance opportunity and build a stronger economic future.”

The agreement builds on three years of work following GBC’s merger with the Economic Alliance of Greater Baltimore to strengthen the region’s economic development capacity. GBC has developed All In | 2035, the region’s 10-year economic plan; created Bold Moves, which was recognized by City Nation Place as the nation’s “top place brand” in 2025; established the Regional Investment Scorecard, which tracked 156 deals representing $2.9 billion in announced investment in 2025; built a coordinated business investment pipeline; and integrated UpSurge Baltimore into its broader economic strategy.

That work is increasingly drawing partners around a shared regional approach. Jurisdictions are investing in regional marketing and business development, business and institutional leaders are engaging directly in investment opportunities, and Queen Anne’s County is joining the partnership as GBC expands the reach of the region’s economic development work.

“We’ve spent the last three years building the strategy, tools and relationships for the Baltimore Region to compete for investment at a different level, and we’re seeing people lean into the work,” said Mark Anthony Thomas, president and CEO of the Greater Baltimore Committee. “This agreement is an important signal of that momentum. Our jurisdictions are coming together around a stronger regional approach, our business leaders are helping us pursue opportunities, and Queen Anne’s County is joining the effort. We now have an opportunity to put that collective capacity to work at a much greater scale.”

The agreement will focus on regional marketing and business promotion, business investment and prospect support, and economic and market intelligence. Each jurisdiction will continue to lead its own economic development priorities, incentives, permitting, projects and business relationships.

“Howard County has long understood that our economic future is connected to the strength of the broader region,” said Howard County Executive Calvin Ball. “This agreement strengthens our ability to work together, compete for investment and showcase the collective assets of the Baltimore Region. We are proud to welcome GBC’s Annual Meeting to Howard County for the first time, reflecting our longstanding commitment to regional partnership and collaboration across jurisdictions.”

“Queen Anne’s County sees tremendous value in connecting our economic assets and opportunities to the broader Baltimore Region,” said Queen Anne’s County Commissioner Jack N. Wilson. “Joining this partnership gives us an opportunity to bring the strengths of the Eastern Shore to a larger regional effort and create new connections to companies, investors and economic opportunities.”
